Building a Better Community

How is Van Metre helping our community during the COVID-19 outbreak?

Through our Year of Giving Program Van Metre Homes, in partnership with the Van Metre Companies Foundation, will donate resources to local health care and hunger relief efforts. We will continue to look for opportunities to give back.

Building a better community

At Van Metre, not only do we build communities, we build Community. We are invested in making Northern Virginia a better place by giving our time, energy, and resources to the people we serve.

Where do we start?

In 2020, for the first 250 homes sold, Van Metre Homes will donate $1,000 each to the Van Metre Companies Foundation—continuing the dedication to local communities we’ve had for over sixty years. The Van Metre Companies Foundation, in turn, will donate this money to local 501(c) charities that do great work to continue Van Metre’s mission of building not only community but Community.

At Van Metre, giving back to the local community goes way back to our founder, Albert G. Van Metre. A lifelong resident of the greater Washington, DC area, he established a tradition of philanthropy focusing on local charities. As a homegrown business, perpetuating that legacy of local giving is our responsibility, and our pride.

The Van Metre Companies Foundation was formed in May of 2014 and is run by a group of employees who serve as the Board of Directors. These officers have full discretion for the disbursement of funds held by the Foundation, which provides financial support to qualified educational, medical, human and animal welfare services, and other 501(c)(3) charitable organizations.

UPDATE:
The 2020 Van Metre 5K Run has been postponed
.

The 28th Annual Van Metre 5K Run and One Mile Fun Run/Walk will once again benefit Children’s National Health System. In 2019, we raised over $230,000 and we’d love to keep the momentum going! We switched from a 5-miler to a 5K this year but promise the same amount of fun. Serious runners, weekend and occasional joggers and walkers of all skill levels - even strollers & dogs - are invited to participate. We're extremely grateful for the generosity of our participants, sponsors and spectators alike. Stay tuned for updated race info.
